Philosophy of Ministry

The Children's Ministry of Bethany Bible Church exists to glorify God by supporting families in their God-ordained responsibility to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians. 6:4)

We seek to accomplish this in three primary ways.

Encourage Parents

We believe parents have a clear biblical mandate to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph. 6:4; Col 3:21). Therefore, parents are to be the primary evangelists and spiritual mentors of their children. This is an on-going process accomplished through the parent’s godly example as they teach, reprove, correct and train their children in righteousness. (2 Tim 3:16; Dt. 6:7)

We seek to lovingly exhort and equip parents in this God given responsibility by providing quality childcare so that they may attend worship, Bible studies, and other ministries undisturbed.  In addition, we support parents by offering parenting classes, resources, and biblical counseling.

Since the scriptures call for strong Christian families that are growing and being molded through the ministry of the Body of Christ (Eph. 5-6);  we seek to support and enhance the spiritual health of the home while never usurping the parental role and responsibility.

Evangelize Children

The church has a mandate to make disciples and to teach them to observe all that is contained in the Word of God (Mt 28:19–20). Therefore, the emphasis of our Children’s Ministry is the evangelism of children (Acts 2:39).

We understand that every child’s greatest need is regeneration because children are dead in their sin and fall short of God’s holy standard (Rom 3:23).  Children, as well as adults, through trusting in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior can receive forgiveness of sins, a relationship with God, and purpose in life (Rom 10:9–16). This reality is the cornerstone not only of our hope, but of our ministry to children.

Our ministry is one of heart preparation.  We cultivate the soil of children’s hearts as we sow the seed of the gospel.  We seek to accomplish this as we teach the children from God’s Word in a way that is age appropriate and interactive; teaching them the fear of God, sorrow over sin, the truths of the gospel and an appreciation for Christ and His Word.

Equip the Saints

We believe the church has a mandate to edify and equip every believer to do the work of the ministry (Eph. 2:10, 4:11–16). This equipping begins as our pastor-teacher applies the ministry of the Word to our lives and continues as we engage in fellowship and discipleship within the church (2 Tim 3:16-17).

Children’s Ministry has a unique role in the equipping of saints to do work of ministry. We desire to equip Sunday school teachers, nursery supervisors and volunteers to serve and communicate God’s truth.  Our Children’s Ministry team is equipped through training and mentoring with a team approach.  We expect our Children’s Ministry saints to grow in their personal walk with Jesus Christ as they study, pray and prepare to serve the children.   We also make it a priority that our servants not neglect the time with the rest of the church, but are involved in the mutual encouragement of the church. (Heb. 10:25)
